Spaying or Neutering Your Pet
Service is available at Pet Care Partners Veterinary Centers.

Spaying & Neutering Your Pet
Prevent unwanted litters, minimize health risks, and improve behavior with one simple procedure. Spaying and neutering are essential components of responsible pet ownership. At Pet Care Partners Veterinary Center, we provide safe, compassionate spay and neuter services to help relieve pet overpopulation and enhance your pet’s long-term health.
Whether your pet is a puppy, kitten, or adult, our veterinary team will usher you through the process while coddling your pet throughout his or her personal day of care.
Why Does Spay & Neuter Matter
Each year, millions of healthy dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters as a result of overpopulation. Spaying or neutering your pet will help prevent unwanted litters and will help reduce the burden on rescue organizations.
However, the benefits go far more than population control.
Health & Behavioral Benefits
For Female Pets (spay)
- Preventing heat cycles and behaviors associated with heat (vocalizing, aggression, roaming)
- Reducing the risk of uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, and mammary gland tumors
- Avoiding unwanted pregnancies
- Reducing attraction from unneutered male pets
For Male Pets (neuter)
- Reducing aggressive or territorial behaviors
- Preventing urine marking or roaming behaviors
- Reducing the risk of developing testicular or prostate cancer
- Reducing sexual behaviors toward people or other pets
Spaying or neutering will often add approximately 3 to 5 years to your pet’s lifespan.
What to Expect During Surgery
Both procedures will be performed under general anesthesia, and your pet will be closely monitored by our veterinary team.
Spay Surgery (Females):
Removal of the ovaries and uterus via a small incision in the abdomen.
Pain management and post-op monitoring.
Homecare instructions upon discharge.
Neuter Surgery (Males):
- Removal of the testicles through a small incision in the scrotum.
- Tying off the blood supply to avoid complications.
- Pain management and post-op monitoring.
Most pets will recover quickly, and you’ll be able to resume normal activity after a few days.
When to Schedule
We recommend spaying or neutering:
- Before your pet’s first heat cycle (for female pets).
- Around 4–6 months.
- For adult pets or pets that have not been altered, as soon as it’s possible.
Our team will help you figure out the best timing for spaying or neutering based on your pet’s age, breed, and medical history.
